Horta, Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires is probably one of the top places on the planet for incredible food. We found Horta and fell in love. The food was clean, pure, and honest. Service was excellent, and the wine selections were Argentinian and terrific.

The place itself is architecturally interesting, very narrow when you first walk in, but cozy and very contemporary. In the back is a large, round bar-style communal table in a garden. If the weather is good, try to get a seat there.

The menu changes almost daily, but we tucked into handmade pasta, a raw-fish selection, and some incredible beef cheeks. The bread (fresh brioche) and crackers at the start of the meal were house-made and served with delicious butter. Just order whatever's on special, and you won't go wrong.

The staff speaks some English, but any Spanish you have will be helpful and appreciated.
