Wander out of central city and happen your way south over the (mostly dried up) Salt River to a quieter part of town, and you may see the glittering glow of Cocina Madrigal. It's not a mirage, it's a sign to stop: you should look no further for your evening fare. On some nights you'll need a little luck to get a spot in the parking lot, but that's a good thing -- this place is hopping with locals, and the Guru knows locals know, ya know?
Solid food, great service. A misty patio under the lights for those hot Phoenix nights. What's not to love?
